UFC Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Legacy

UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is undoubtedly considered one of the greatest fighters in MMA history. He has the record for the longest reign as UFC Lightweight Champion, having held the title since April 2018. He has an undefeated record, with 29 wins and no losses – having one of the longest winning streaks in MMA history.  The announcement of his retirement this year surprised many but has allowed Khabib to retire on his own terms. “It was my last fight,” Nurmagomedov told media, after defeating Justin Gaethje in the main event of UFC 254.     Marcel Hirscher Retires Here at Sprongo, we know a champion when we see one, and although Marcel Hirscher retires now, he’s every inch a champion. It’s not even the first time we’re talking about this skiing legend. Today, we’re going to look at his medal-littered career on the slopes as we say goodbye to one of skiing’s greats. Here’s to you, Marcel. Where did he come from? The son of a skiing instructor, Marcel started out on the slopes at just two-years-old. Right from the beginning, he was the best and went on to win several events in the Junior World Ski Championships. His specialties? Slalom and giant slalom. What else did he win?       Austrian skier Marcel Hirscher has had an amazing career – he is a winner of eight consecutive World Cup titles and won 11 medals at the Alpine Skiing World Championships – 7 of them being gold. Not to mention his Olympic success – Hirscher won a silver medal in slalom at the 2014 Winter Olympics, and two gold medals in the combined and giant slalom at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

        Jarl Riiber wins tenth World Cup victory of the season

        Norwegian Jarl Magnus Riiber won his tenth World Cup victory this season, beating out Finland’s IIkka Herola in Klingenthal by 0.5 seconds. The race, which was held on Sunday,  still went underway, despite snowy and stormy weather conditions. However, jumping was not possible in these conditions, which meant Friday’s (February 1st) provisional competition jumps had to be used instead).

          With just under a month left until the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, we’re super excited to see what the athletes bring to the table!             Athletes of Sprongo – Mikaela Shiffrin

            As a Video Analysis platform, we are lucky enough to have some amazing athletes using our Sprongo platform to help them achieve success! One of our top athletes is Mikaela Shiffrin. Mikaela is an American Alpine Ski Racer with the US Ski Team. She has won multiple Skiing World Championships and won an Olympic gold medal at only 18. She is the youngest slalom champion in Olympic Alpine skiing history! In light of Mikaela Shiffrin winning the Serge Lang Trophy (also knows as the  Skieur d’Or Award) for this year, we would like to take you through some of Mikaela’s biggest achievements over her athletic career.               The Ontario National Ski Academy (NSA)

              NSA The National Ski Academy (NSA) in Ontario in Canada use Sprongo to develop and improve their students. NSA was established in 1986 and is a non-profit registered charity. They aim to provide an environment where student athletes can maximize their potential through alpine ski racing excellence, personal growth and academic achievement. In 2010 they became a Ministry of Education inspected private school. They can grant high school credits in grades 9 to 12. Holistic Approach They deliver their vision through a holistic approach. This builds on the individual students addressing three core development areas. These are academics, fitness and ski racing. NSA has a winter home in Collingwood and a summer home is Saas Fee Switzerland. Each home provides the full facilities, professional coaches, teachers and trainers the students need to succeed. They are the only high school credit granting academy in the whole of Canada that provide this holistic program.…
